Finance is intimately involved in implementing the organizational strategy because strategy drives the allocation of resources, and Finance is the resource gatekeeper of the organization. Finance's role in this respect has two implications. First, Finance must be involved in all aspects of strategy—not just in implementing it but in formulating it as well. Second, the challenge for Finance is to design its own strategy so that the implementation of the corporate strategy will maximize value creation.
