In this chapter, you look at what textures are, how they are created, and how they are applied to models. To do that, you will use additional tools beyond Maya. In Chapter 5, you learned how UV maps are created from the low poly model of the mech and what they are used for. You can use these maps to apply your textures. Throughout this chapter, you will be working with multiple textures on a single model, looking at an overview of Substance 3D Painter, creating PBR textures, working with alphas, and exporting texture maps. See Figure 7-1.
