Everything changes. Nothing is more true than when managing your infrastructure which is often in a constant state of flux. Configuration files, content, and application versions are changing all the time. That means we need a way of handling changes when they happen and leaving things well alone at other times so as not to break things that currently work well. This is the core tenet of idempotence.
