Computers are useless if they don’t have input/output (I/O) capabilities. Almost all the work done by a computer requires some input, performs some processing, and returns some output. I/O capabilities are computing facilities to provide user input/output, data storage and retrieval, and network access capabilities in the computer system. To generalize, there are four types of I/O devices.
