Using Data Controls with ASP.NET Applications
This chapter focuses on the concepts behind web application development and the key components of a web environment, and it shows you how to work with an ASP.NET web site project while developing a web application. (Covering the ASP.NET framework in detail is out of the scope of this book.)
Normally, a fully functional web project requires Internet Information Services (IIS) to be installed and configured on the machine. But in this chapter, to keep things simple and to help you understand the fundamentals of an ASP.NET web site project that uses a data control, IIS is not required. However, if you have it, you do not need to uninstall it.
