As web developers, we tend to squirm at the thought of having to actually deploy the code that we've just written into production. We are usually excited at the prospect of getting our site up, in the hopes that other people find it, write about it in magazines, and make us an overnight success story. But the devil's in the details. As you start to switch over from development to deployment, you start taking on a role that more closely resembles that of a system administrator than a web developer. You stop writing and debugging code, and start worrying about server configuration settings, network security, and the cost of bandwidth.
