In previous chapters, we walked you through the process of building a rich web-based application using the most basic features GWT has to offer. But there's more to building a real-world RIA than what we've covered so far—issues such as performance, localization, and browser history support need to be considered. Moreover, no framework can be considered complete if it doesn't provide a flexible and nonrestrictive extension mechanism.
This chapter will introduce some of the more advanced features in GWT that will help you tackle these issues. It's structured differently compared to its predecessors, as each section is dedicated to a specific topic and therefore can be read independently from the others.
