With canvas apps, we can connect to a wide range of data sources through standard and premium data connectors. But what if we want to access data sources that are not natively supported – is this possible? The answer is yes. By building a custom data connector, we can connect to any data source that is accessible through a web service. And if our required data source doesn’t include a web service interface, we can overcome this by building our own web service (although this falls outside the scope of this book).
