The Salesforce CLI connects to a Developer Hub, or “Dev Hub,” to create and manage scratch orgs. Normally, you would enable and use a Dev Hub in a production org , or in a partner business org if you are a Salesforce AppExchange Partner. If you want to use one of these orgs for your Dev Hub, please jump to the section “Enabling the Dev Hub,” which is after the next section. If you would prefer to experiment with Salesforce DX without touching an existing org, create a free trial org that has a Dev Hub enabled by following the instructions in the next section.
