Getting Started

If you are reading this book, you probably already know something about T-SQL. T-SQL, also known as Transact-SQL, is Microsoft’s implementation of the Structured Query Language (SQL) for SQL Server. T-SQL is the language that is most often used to extract or modify data stored in an SQL Server database, regardless of which application or tool you use. SQL Server 2014 T-SQL is based on standards created by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), but Microsoft has added several functionality enhancements.
