In Chapter 2, you learned how to perform basic management tasks related to the file system of your server. For example, you read about file copying and navigating between directories. In this chapter, you'll learn about some more elementary file system management tasks. The concept of a mount will be discussed, and you will find out how to perform mounts automatically by using the /etc/fstab configuration file. You will learn about the purpose of hard and symbolic links and how you can create them. Last but not least, you will see more about how the Ext3 file system is organized and how knowledge of that organization may come in handy, using advanced tools such as dd.
