I was giving a reprisal of my “Lighting from Home Depot” lecture, on which I based my book A Shot in the Dark: A Creative DIY Guide to Digital Video Lighting on (Almost) No Budget, last week for Hollywood Shorts, and one of the attendees asked me how to deal with reflections on set.
I floundered for a minute, trying to find the best way to answer her question, but the variables involved in “reflections on set” were just too vast for my mind to immediately grasp. It took a few questions back and forth to get what she was talking about and I thought up a few tips to help her understand how best to deal with those unwanted reflections—mostly from light sources—in your shot.
