CHAPTER 2

A Simple Study

Introduction

Much of the impetus for our interest in this topic is rooted in personal experiences with our own supervisors and managers, as well as our education and professional experiences. We wondered if we could identify traits, commonalities, or patterns of behavior that were consistently linked to the Best Boss experiences of a variety of people. We hoped that our work would identify teachable skills that would assist people in becoming better leaders. To formalize our shared commitment, we even established a new organization to serve as the repository of our research data, findings and conclusions. We call it Lead Well, LLC.
