Many estimating relationships are not straight lines (even in the short term), but straight lines are easier to forecast {well, a bit of a doddle really, if the truth be told.) For this reason estimators like straight lines, and it appears that David Beckham does too (Dolan, 2006). Perhaps he should have become an estimator instead of a footballer! (David Beckham s compulsion is a little bizarre as his trademark free kicks were usually bent or curled around a line of defenders.)
