The Culture Audit
The questions below are administered, either through in-depth interviews or written survey instruments, to roughly 20 percent of the total population of the organization. Why 20 percent? The goal is to continue gathering data until there is redundancy, which can happen at around 7 or 8 percent, to sample enough participants so that a broad sense of ownership of the data is generated, and to protect confidentiality of minorities and women by oversampling where their numbers are relatively few. The interview is often administered by an outside consultant to ensure objectivity and confidentiality.
