Developing a Strategy for Integrating Big Data Analytics into the Enterprise
This chapter expands on the previous one by looking at some key issues that often plague new technology adoption and show that the key issues are not new ones, and that there is likely to be organizational knowledge that can help in fleshing out a reasonable strategic plan. We look at the typical hype cycle, and how its flaws can be mitigated by instituting good practices for defining expectations and continuing to measure performance. We help define the acceptability criteria for evaluating the result of a big data pilot that can be used to make a go/no-go decision.
