Abstract

Image segmentation is one of the important digital image processing techniques that extracts useful information to analyses the images obtained various fields. In healthcare, the medical images are employed to develop an intelligent system by establishing a relationship between digital images and clinical information of a patient. Several eye-related problems can be diagnosed in their preliminary stage by observing the changes in retinal blood vessels and Optic Disc & Optic Cup of human eyes. Accurate detection of these retinal changes is highly impractical for the doctor with numerous patients in society. In addition to this, it is a time consuming and erroneous process.
