Before the first shovel of dirt moves, the construction manager must do a significant amount of work. Arguably, the most important task is preparing the schedule. The schedule is one of the driving factors in the success of any project and is a critical component to all team members. At the onset of a project (and often before that), a member of the construction management team creates the schedule. This schedule typically reflects experience with construction timing; material lead times, weather, crew, and equipment concerns.
