Section 3BIM ingredients

Many commentaries and case studies on the uses of BIM currently available, especially on the web, refer to techniques that have been around from the beginning of CAD. In many instances the technique is used in the same way it has been used for the past four decades. However, BIM represents a shift in perception of the way the technique has been adapted to better effect. The ingredients described in this section can be found to a greater or lesser extent and in any combination in any of the examples now being published as BIM working. They range from the most basic 2D drafting techniques to ideas of parametrics, intelligent objects, portals and the cloud.
