Standard and Alternative Fuel Specifications
The American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM) and the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence have leading roles for setting and maintaining standard specifications for civilian aviation [1]. ASTM Standard Specification D1655 describes the quality of conventional aviation turbine fuels from the refinery to the aircraft. ASTM Specification D7566, Standard Specification for Aviation Turbine Fuels Containing Synthesized Hydrocarbons, was developed to provide quality control for fuels of novel compositions that include synthesized hydrocarbons from new sources.
