Innovations in Product Development
As mentioned early on, the uses of bioinspiration for product design are the examples most frequently cited in popular media. When I give intro presentations, product examples are always at the forefront because of their bite-sized, easy-to-digest stories with nice images that clearly show how an innovation is like a biological model. This goes a very long way to spark the imagination, so I will present this chapter in a similar spirit. We will start with engineering, then move into materials and green chemistry, and finally, talk about the broader approaches to product design.
