Artificial Organs

Abstract

Expanding beyond the realm to consider functionalized tissues as replacements, the larger question is how larger functional ensembles of tissues can be portrayed as living organ substitutes for damaged or diseased organs. Three ideas are forwarded to present the current state of artificial organs, including the replication of kidney purification by dialysis, the development of onboard functional deployment system to replicate functional pancreas expression regulating blood sugar in sera, and tissue-engineered constructs to replace the bladder.
