Gaussian mixture models (GMMs) and radial basis function (RBF) networks are two of the promising neural models for pattern classification. The goal of the following laboratory exercise is to develop pattern classification systems based on GMMs and RBF networks. The systems should be able to recognize 10 vowels. "Netlab" (>http://www.ncrg.aston.ac.uk/netlab/) and Matlab are used to create the GMMs and RBF networks.
This laboratory exercise has the following objectives.
1. | Create GMMs and RBF networks to represent 10 different classes. |
2. | Perform pattern classification using the created networks. |
3. | Compare the GMM-based system against ... |
