Abstract
Biosensors are drawing a major attention toward its development due to its application in clinical diagnosis, targeted drug delivery, optical drug delivery and also in healthcare sectors. Dendrimers are highly branched molecular structure having 3D branching. These branching make great interest for attachment of varied molecules to improve their characteristics such as solubility, bioavailability and many more. In this chapter, synthesis of dendrimers, its types, and application of dendrimers as biosensors are discussed. Dendrimers application was focused in the varieties of drug delivery fields, such as gene delivery, controlled drug delivery, antimicrobial and anticancer therapy. Dendrimers-based biosensors are majorly synthesized by layer-by-layer assembling and designed as glucose sensing device, electrochemical detectors, fluorescence detectors and QCM detectors.
