Abstract
Plasmonic nanomaterials exhibit distinctive optical properties when exposed to incident light with a proper wavelength. These noble materials have found widespread applications in optical sensing and sensors, energy transfer and conversion, biological analyte detection, chemical sensing, environmental control, nanomedicine, medical diagnostics, tumor and tissue imaging, food security, therapeutic and biomedical engineering, etc., thanks to their unique catalytic, mechanical and optical properties. As a result, the characteristics, synthesis and pertinent practical uses of plasmonic nanomaterials have piqued the attention of many researchers in recent decades, especially in the field of nanotechnology.
