Using the BRE with a database

Business rules are stored in a rule store, which is basically a SQL Server database. When you configure the BRE with the BizTalk Server Configuration tool, you deploy a database called BizTalkRuleEngineDb. With the Business Rule Composer, you can create policies containing rules and vocabularies. These are stored in the rule store. The interactions with the rule store are depicted in the following diagram. Rules can be applied on a message provided through an orchestration or .NET application, as shown in the previous recipe.
