13. Making Time Your Ally

Time can be your best friend or your worst enemy.

In martial arts tournaments there are usually three rounds of three minutes each, but you shouldn’t wait until the last minute of the final round to use your best techniques. First of all, you’ll be tired out by then and won’t execute them skillfully. Second, it will be obvious to your opponents that you’ve saved your best stuff for last, and they will be ready for it. If they’re ahead on points, they know they can just evade you and there is little you can do to win.
