The Shorter, the Better
"Sup? R u gonna do dinner tonight? Meet me @ 5G in 20."
As ridiculous as the above statement may seem, in reality it is a confirmation of dinner plans between two people. This kind of language usage—typical to SMS and text messaging—is probably one of the reasons texting has been reduced to more of an informal medium of communication. What is interesting though is the reason for the development of such a language. Notice the short forms that have been used through the message.
