Painting the base color

We'll start our first pass on the Base Color texture by painting in Blender. If you're only allowed one texture, Base Color is the most important:

The areas of the UI we will use to paint our base color map
The following are the texture paint mode hotkeys: F: Brush size. Shift + F: Brush strength. S: Sample color. E: Change the stroke method.

To begin painting our base color map we mush hook in up in the Shader editor, then we can paint:
