Adjusting the brush tool for calligraphy

Let's practice our penmanship using the Draw and Curve tools, which will highlight additional brush settings. The finished calligraphy can be seen in ch08_calligraphy.blend in the project files:

  1. Switch to the Front view.
  2. In Outliner, turn off visibility for the camera.
  3. In Viewport Overlays, turn the Grid on.
  4. Select the Draw Ink preset, and set the radius to 1 pixel.

With this viewing setup, we'll draw four guidelines using four different methods.

  1. Use the Draw tool, and hold Alt while drawing to draw while locked to the x-axis.
  2. For the next line, turn on Guides and, in the pulldown, choose Grid. Draw a line, and it automatically snaps to X and Y.
