Chapter 2. An Idea Germinates

Personal experiences I had during a three-year period convinced me that there is potential for a sustained rise in the market values of many assets in the world. I saw houses, farms, businesses, and industrial machinery for sale at distressingly low prices. Many of those prices have recently begun a sustained rise, which can continue for many years before reaching an upper limit. The personal experiences that gave me that view are the subject of this chapter.
