Rattan Chadha and Michael Levie, who had been introduced by a mutual friend, shared a common frustration: the hotel industry. Levie had managed large hotel portfolios for several international chains, including Sonesta and NH Hotel Group. Over the years, he had developed various ideas for innovative changes, but was often stymied by conservative hotel executives who were unwilling to experiment with radical ideas.
