In its October 23, 2015 issue, journalist Rebecca Sun stated in The Hollywood Reporter’s heavily-circulated article “TV Diversity Programs: Launching Pad Or Scarlett Letter?”: “In their ideal form, the mentorship and training programs that the Big Four television networks use to identify and develop new writing talent also serve to jump-start the careers of diverse writers.” Whether they are diversity driven or open to every race, gender, gender identity, sexual preference and age group, the television writing programs, also widely referred to as the TV Fellowships by TV writers everywhere, offer one thing for all who are accepted into them: opportunity.
