Tier 2—Lateral: Non-IT Engineering—Architecture—Science
Abstract
The roles of engineer and scientist, while different than information security in their subject matter, require a similar set of skills. The activities you will be able to take on will depend greatly upon the degree that you have in your field—as opposed to information security, where experience is considered of greater importance than a degree. Though the knowledge gained in these areas is unlikely to be particularly useful in helping you move into the information security field, the skills gained, such as problem solving, attention to detail, and good record keeping, are extremely relevant to the information security field.
