During the cold night of February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin deployed an airstrike against Ukraine. The next morning, he launched a ground invasion with armored tanks and troops. These hostilities triggered the largest refugee crisis since World War II as more than 6 million people streamed from Ukraine into neighboring countries. The world watched the atrocities in disbelief. I was horrified.
