The New Rules

A FEW YEARS ago, one of Steve’s co-workers came to him for advice. Steve used to race cars, and this co-worker was planning to do it himself and wanted some practical tips. Steve asked him if he knew the test as to whether or not a person could race cars. When this associate said no, Steve took him to the men’s room.

“How much money do you have in your wallet?” Steve asked.

“About forty dollars.”

“Take out a twenty-dollar bill” (which he did). “Now flush it down the toilet.”

“I can’t do that.”

“Then you can’t race cars.”

About a year later, this associate came to Steve and said, “Of all the advice I got, yours was the only correct information.”
