The Trader’s Ten Commandments
Losing money is a sin. It means you have done what you should not have done, and you have left undone what you should have done. You must repent, and in future obey the rules. My rules. I call them the ten commandments.
None of these is original to me. The first is famously attributed to Warren Buffet.
1. Thou shalt not lose any money, as the probability is too high that you will never get it back again.
2. Don’t risk money when you do not have to. You can beat any market by not being in the market all the time. If you can avoid the bad bits, it is better to do so; it can improve the risk-return ratio.
