Retaining Quality Gen Ys

The best way to find out how to retain employees is to find out why they would leave. According to Chris Bailey in his article “Why Care About Generation Y?”:
Data from the Full-time State Employee 2001 Turnover report indicates that 60 percent of turnover occurred with employees under the age of 40, and 52 percent of turnover was with employees that had less than two years of service. Why did they leave? Many employees felt their employer did not value their work, there was a lack of training, they were offered more responsibility elsewhere, they wanted to grow technologically, and they didn’t feel recognized.
