Assertiveness is about being your true self, expecting to be treated properly by all and treating others in the same way. Being assertive usually falls into the realm of communicating with others, giving you the ability to be open, frank, honest and direct in what you say. In being assertive you take responsibility for your actions whilst respecting others and not judging them. Where there is conflict it provides the opportunity to be constructive and discover a win–win solution.
