Why interviewing at all?
You may be wondering why a book on psychometric testing has anything at all to say on interviews of any sort. There are really two answers to this. First, there are some interviews that are so highly structured and so carefully developed that they share much with conventional psychometric tests. Indeed a term sometimes used for these is ‘Structured Psychometric Interviews’ (SPI). The second answer is that, regardless of the details of the makeup, some form of structured interview is very common in assessing candidates, so if you expect to experience psychometric tests, you should also expect to experience these.
