4.1 Introduction
Your voice is the most important physical quality for effective broadcast performance. As a radio announcer, your voice is the only way the audience has to understand the message. As a television performer, you will be seen as well as heard. To understand the importance of the vocal portion of television, just turn down the volume the next time you watch TV. While you may be able to follow what is on the screen, you will quickly lose the actual content. Even if you do not find a job in a broadcast announcing situation, your voice will continue to be one of your most important assets. The sound of your voice and how you communicate ideas are essential in any career.
