Portable broadcast equipment, including camcorders, field editors, monitors and associated equipment, is generally powered from rechargeable batteries. Digital broadcast technology demands more power from batteries than ever before, while the equipment itself becomes ever smaller and lighter, and the broadcast engineer is further challenged by the availability of several battery chemistries, each of which has specific advantages and disadvantages.
