Summary
La Discrète is that dangerous thing: a low-budget, auteur film, from a first-time director, with an unknown cast, that pleased audiences and made lots of money. As such it has been a model and inspiration for dozens of similarly low-budget, first-time projects, all of which have failed.
La Discrète's success is certainly a credit to the film's qualities and the filmmaker's skills. It is a good-natured comedy, with an immensely charming leading actress who captured audience's hearts.
