Summary

Peter's Friends was a calculated piece of low-budget, commercial film-making that its creators squeezed in between other commitments. From treatment to the end of principal photography took only three months.

The members of the large leading cast, assembled by the films director and star Kenneth Branagh, each worked for a flat $15 000 fee plus a small piece of back-end profits. The five-week, six-day shoot proceeded smoothly (the film came in slightly under budget) and the result was more or less what the film-makers expected: an efficient piece of 'disposable' cinema rather than a work of art, or even a labour of love.
