Summary

Tacones Lejanos (High Heels) is a carefully ana cleverly packaged commercial film that never forgets its audience. The experienced production team delivered exactly the film they intended, and this was followed through with effective marketing, especially in the home territory, Spain. Production values are higher than in earlier Almodóvar movies, and the budget - $3.7 million - was significantly bigger than he had worked with before. But the risk was thought to be justified: this was by far the most accessible and commercial Almodóvar movie to date.
