Part 2 Case Studies of European Films

Warning: The budget and revenue figures given in the following case studies are presented here for illustrative purposes only. They are rounded up and converted at the dollar rate current in October 1994 and include our own estimates. They are therefore indicative rather than strictly accurate.

Note: Rather than attempt to assess whether any of the films that follow are technically in profit, we have opted for a simpler yardstick of commercial success: break-even. If the producers share of gross receipts exceeds the cost of production, the film can be said to have broken even, regardless of how those receipts are then divided.
