Preface

Welcome, and thank you for spending your time and resources to learn about building your own x86-based personal computer. This is my first exPress title from The Pragmatic Bookshelf and, as "exPress" implies, I promise to keep things moving along at a fast clip with a minimum of stops along the way. Each chapter will feature a brief introduction to the importance of the parts highlighted and then get right down to work.

While the book is designed as a guide to walk you through each step of the process, the ideal approach would be to read the book first to get an overall understanding of the task at hand. Then when you have the parts and are ready to assemble them, read along for a refresher.
