Heroku has an add-ons marketplace[14] with a handful of first-party add-ons (datastores, simple scheduled tasks) and a host of third-party tools. These add-ons provide Heroku app operators an extremely low-friction means to add common supporting software to their web applications. Where a traditional web hosting setup might expect you to operate your own MySQL or Postgres database, Heroku makes such things a click away with the add-on marketplace. Each add-on can be selected from a menu and added directly to your app, usually with little to no custom code required.
