Ufer grounding

A technique, often used for server environments, that uses the properties of concrete to improve conductivity for grounding.

ultimate load

The minimum weight that exceeds a floor tile's ability to support a load. Essentially the breaking point of a floor panel, past which an object crashes through to the subfloor.

uniform load

Weight distributed evenly over an area, such as large equipment that sits flush on the Data Center floor with no support pegs or wheels. This load can also be an accumulation of point loads. Also known as static load.

unshielded twisted pair (UTP)

A cable containing multiple pairs of twisted copper conductors, which are gathered in a single sheath. Each individual wire is surrounded by plastic insulation.
