Installing a LAN
At one time, almost every computer was stand-alone, which meant that it didn’t connect to any other computer. You can still create stand-alone computer setups, but they have become rarer. Most computers today connect to other computers in some way. At one time, you could encounter all sorts of connection types. However, today the connections generally connect locally, using a local area network (LAN), or globally through the Internet, using a special device that somehow attaches to the LAN.
